A New Book...with your voice!
I have been asked by a large book publisher to write a book based on my columns and about non-toxic pest control. I will be covering a lot of material on controlling all of the common pests. Included will be definitive chapters on orange oil vs sulfuryl flouride, aluminum phosphide, the creation and evolution of the EPA, a close look at the hazards of pesticides and a critique of the pest control industry.  I want this book to be as Abraham Lincoln said; of the people, by the people and for the people. In other words I want reader participation.

Controlling Drywood Termites with Orange Oil or Fumigation
ALERT!
This is hot off the press!  If you are still undecided about using a fumigant to control termites, please read this published in Science Daily

One of the most common questions I get from California is about the difference between using orange oil or fumigating with sulfuryl fluoride (Vikane) for controlling drywood termites or wood-boring beetles.

If you want the names of pest control companies that use orange oil successfully,  please click here to contact me.

Identify Your Insect

INSECT AND ARTHROPOD IDENTIFICATION

We will be happy to identify insects or other arthropods (bugs) from anywhere in the country. If you need a potential pest identified, we can do so. Many pests, including ants, some beetles, moths and others need to be identified to species in order to be properly controlled. Others, such as springtails, booklice, etc., can be identified to genus. We will identify any insect or other arthropod to the level necessary to maintain control. You can either put them in alcohol (best method), or place them in cotton and put them in a film container. In either case, pack them securely in a box and mail them to me at PO Box 209, Polvadera, NM 87828. A bubble envelope can be used in some cases, but never send bugs dry in a business envelope.

We will also recommend methods of controlling any pests we identify and it will be without the use of pesticides if possible.

Please fill out an ID form and include $20 (Cash, check or M.O.) for any bugs you want identified. If you send more than one species of bug for identification, include $20 per species.
