Abner made his way to New Mexico from Pennsylvania. In his eight years of life he has much pain and much betrayal. An Amish man beat Abner to the point he broke two bones in his back and poured battery acid over his body.
Abner made his way to New Mexico from Pennsylvania. In his eight years of life he has much pain and much betrayal. An Amish man beat Abner to the point he broke two bones in his back and poured battery acid over his body. This was done in an effort to “train” him. Thank God he was rescued. He went through several homes because he was so afraid (who could blame him.) When we took him in it was several months before we could even touch this sweet boy. Today you would never know he was so afraid. So many people had given up on this fellow, but to us he has been well worth the wait. While his scars on the outside remain and always will, slowly the scars on the inside are healing. Looking into his eyes we can’t help but wonder how a creature that has been so badly hurt can learn to love again. He will never be able to be ridden and simple tasks with him can be a chore but we won’t give up on him for anything in the world. He has taught us so much in the time he has been here.
